Luis Enrique led Spain national team were in action yesterday in their 5th group game of the ongoing UEFA Nations League at home against Switzerland at the La Romareda in Zaragoza.
The La Rojas in the game were left disappointed as they were stunned by the visitor who secured the whole maximum three of the night to mount pressure on the host going into the last game of the group stage, with just two points now separating the two sides.
The visitor took the lead with a goal from Nigerian-born Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji which separated the two sides going into the half time break before Jordi Alba got the host levelled in the second half to make it 1-1, after which they conceded yet another lead with a goal from BreelEmbolo which ended the game two goals to one at full time.
Here are three players that could be blamed for the disappointing result for the Luis Enrique’s side:
The Barcelona star and former Manchester City forward was not impressive at the heart of the forward line where he had little or no meaningful contributions to the game coupled with failing to convert some clear cut chances that could have been converted into goals.
The Barcelona defender and former Manchester City star was not also solid at the heart of the defence line where he failed to replicate his top notch delivery which contributed to the disappointing two goals to one defeat.
Eric Garcia also gave a shambolic performance with some blunders at the back line which made the defence a shaky one and weak one.
The Barcelona midfielder and La Masia product also had a bad day at office as he failed to create a couple of chances at the heart of the centre-field thereby making the attacking line less effective and efficient.
They will all be hoping to be back to their best form in their next game so as to get back to winning ways as they continue their pursuit in the competition.
