Senegal kicked off their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign with a narrow loss against the Netherlands in a match where the Terenga lions dominated the match in spite of the fact that they missed their star, Sadio Mane.
The Netherlands were only able to score in the 87th minute when a center-forward in Barcelona’s midfield, Frenchman De Jong, found PSV leader Cody Gakpo.
Senegal’s goaltender, Eduard Mendy, failed by not being able to hit the ball, and Gakpo headed home for Van Gala’s men.
The Chelsea goaltender fell again in second base for the Netherlands, not being able to catch a shot and resulting in Klaassen scoring on the 90-minute shot.
Senegal hopes to rebound after its first defeat of the tournament against Qatar on Friday before facing South America’s Ecuador in its final group game.
