Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Sunday, May 15.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has announced that former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard is set to stay at the club this summer.
It comes after the Belgian was rumoured with an exit from the Bernabeu, as the Blues and London rivals Arsenal were linked with a move.
The Italian manager said, via Fabrizio Romano : “Eden Hazard will stay here at Real Madrid next season. Hazard’s plan is very clear, he wants to show his quality next season.”
Former Chelsea and England defender Glen Johnson has urged the Blues to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.
It comes ahead of a huge few weeks for the club in the context of its future.
Speaking to Lord Ping, Johnson said: “For a club like Chelsea, I think they need to sign Robert Lewandowski. He is a more realistic signing, but these top, world-class strikers are hard to find. For his age and the possibility of the deal actually happening, I’d say Chelsea should sign Lewandowski.”
There was plenty of surprise when Thomas Tuchel chose to take off Ruben Loftus-Cheek during extra time of Chelsea’s FA Cup final clash with Liverpool.
Tuchel explained this was not the case in his post-match press conference, saying: “No, that was purely for penalties. Ruben doesn’t have a good history and Ross has. So it was down to the penalties.”
