Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer.
The Gunners have made remarkable progress under Mikel Arteta this season, and the club’s hierarchy are keen to continue their revival under the Spaniard by backing him in the transfer market.
Diaby has been in excellent form with 16 goals and 13 assists in all competitions for Leverkusen this season.
According to German news outlet SportBILD his sensational displays have attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
The 22-year-old fits in perfectly with Arsenal’s transfer strategy of recruiting young, hungry players who can grow and develop with the club.
Leverkusen don’t want to let their burgeoning prodigy go despite the Gunners‘ best efforts.
Diaby, who made his debut for France in September of last year has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s brightest talents over the last couple of seasons.
In the 2020/21 campaign, he scored ten goals and notched a further 15 assists, showcasing remarkable consistency for such a young player.
His impressive numbers have driven up his value, and Leverkusen are in a comfortable position with Diaby under contract until the summer of 2025.
It would cost a reported €100million to prise the prolific winger away from the Bay Arena.
His price tag hasn’t deterred the Gunners who will reportedly look to conclude a deal if they qualify for the Champions League.
Arteta’s side will face competition from a host of clubs to acquire Diaby’s services.
It’s believed that if the Frenchman is willing to force Leverkusen’s hand they could drop the asking price to €75 million.
The key to any deal appears to hinge on whether Arsenal secure a top-four finish, the final four games of the season will go some way to shaping the immediate future of the club both on and off the pitch.
